Publications

My published or forthcoming works are listed below. Some of my current publications are available online or a PDF copy can be downloaded below. I have also written book reviews for periodicals like Baptist History and Heritage, Faith and Mission, The Journal of Baptist Studies, and Founders Journal. I currently serve as the associate editor of The Journal of Baptist Studies, a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published online, and I am a consulting editor for B&H Academic’s forthcoming series Studies in Baptist Life and Thought.

At the moment I am working on several writing projects or oral presentations. Articles and chapters include a study of the evolving relationship between Billy Graham and John R. Rice, Martin Luther’s critique of Anabaptism, the future of Baptist associationalism, the contributions of Thomas Meredith to 19th century North Carolina Baptist history, and priorities for a post-Resurgence Southern Baptist Convention. I am working on a presentation that is tentatively titled “What Can 21st Century American Baptists Learn from Charles Spurgeon about Christian Political Engagement.”  As far as books go, I am working on a co-authored book on daily application of the gospel, a co-edited reader in British Baptist history, and an edited collection of Jesse Mercer’s shorter writings on Christian spirituality.
